Restyling of a Stove Top

HEATING | AMG

The project developed for AMG SpA aimed to restyle the top of a pellet stove with an integrated grille, combining aesthetics, functionality, and optimized airflow management.
Design Development
The initial phase focused on defining the concept of the top, studying its overall shape, the integration of the grille, and the aesthetic language in line with AMG SpA’s product identity. Several aesthetic proposals were explored, varying in patterns, geometries, and proportions. The main objectives were: - enhancing the aesthetic value of the top - ensuring strength and long-term durability - simplifying maintenance and cleaning - achieving seamless integration with the stove body. Together with AMG SpA, the most balanced solution between design and performance was selected.
Initial Testing
The proposals chosen for their functionality were tested using simplified prototypes. This was necessary because the top, beyond its aesthetic role, must be functional and must not obstruct the proper flow of hot air.
Industrialization
Once the design was defined, the project was translated into a technical model ready for production. This phase included: - selection of materials and thicknesses - definition of tolerances - analysis of manufacturing processes - optimization of manufacturability and reduction of critical issues. The result is a solid component compatible with AMG SpA’s production lines. A key aspect of the project was studying the correct and efficient channelling of hot air. The geometry of the grille and the integrated openings were designed to optimize airflow and improve the stove’s performance. The design of the air inlets was conceived to be functional while remaining an integral part of the product’s aesthetics.
Pre-Series and Testing
A pre-series was produced to verify proper assembly with the stove, check for possible deformations or thermal issues, and evaluate the grille’s behaviour under real conditions. Based on the test results, functional adjustments were made, leading to the optimized version of the product.
